Barnbougle Castle
No. Our Castle is not open to the public. It is available for exclusive hire events, meetings and weddings. Guests may only access Barnbougle when attending a private event.

We have two large event spaces within the Castle, catering for 140 seated guests and 200 for a reception.
Groups of up to 450 people can be accommodated with the option of marquees in the garden and even larger groups can use the adjacent Castle park, which is edged by several hundred yards of sandy beach.
No, this is an exclusive-use event venue only. We can help you with local and Edinburgh-based accommodation providers. Please enquire with your Events Manager.

Access to the Castle is via the Chapel Gate entrance of the private Dalmeny Estate. Car parking is in the designated area.
Guests can also be dropped off and collected from the Castle by coach. Please liaise with your Event Manager as gate access restricts larger coaches.
There is parking for coaches and vehicles related to booked events at Barnbougle. However, prior permission must be sought if the owner wishes to leave a vehicle overnight in the parking area.
The Castle is accessible from the main entrance via a ramp with a lift to all levels within. Wheelchair accessible WC facilities are available on the ground floor. The path of travel to access the Castle can be uneven due to gravel paths and mixed terrain and the private beach access includes narrow steps.
Yes - but we ask that you use heel protectors.
Outside, these will stop you from sinking into the lawn and protect your shoes from the gravel. Inside, they will protect the Castle's floors.
