Our expert events team has a combined 50 years of experience planning events, so we know a thing or two about weddings. Whilst no two weddings are ever alike, we can always spot the exciting emerging trends and themes. We have put together our forecast for the hottest wedding trends for 2024 to 2025 – it might just spark some inspiration!

Two-day weddings

Weddings are often one of the most exciting and memorable days of your life, so why not make it last that little bit longer? A once-in-a-lifetime investment, couples now want to be able to fully enjoy their nuptials and spend quality time with their nearest and dearest over a couple of days. With a ceremony and traditional wedding reception held on day one, you have the space to get a little creative on day two - a brunch, a day full of outdoor activities or a BBQ with live music as the soundtrack, we can help organise anything to keep the party going!

Embracing Colour

Farewell, minimalism! In 2024, the spotlight is firmly on colour. We're not just talking about subtle pops here and there; we're talking about bold statements including colourful wedding dresses - a real detour from tradition but we are so here for it. Our Instagram is the go-to place to see how 2024 weddings are incorporating some colour.

Destination Weddings

Although we can’t say that destination weddings have ever been ‘out’, there is definitely more of an interest today. With celebrities like Sofia Richie and Kourtney Kardashian favouring destination weddings, it is natural that they pop up on the radar of couples planning their own wedding. Forget Lake Como and the Algarve, Rosebery Venues is the perfect destination for those seeking a change of scenery and a truly grand Scottish wedding!

Our beloved Barnbougle Castle is steeped in Scottish history and has played host to several ‘cèilidhean’ over the decades – wee drams and pipers are a must! Located right by the Firth of Forth, the view is worth the travel alone.

A Personal Flourish

We have definitely noticed a rising trend in brides and grooms adding fun little personal touches to their wedding day – after all, they are the stars of the show! Embroidered hidden messages on veils, and table names with a sentimental connection to the couple, there is an effort to inject fun and personality throughout the wedding day. How will you make your mark on your big day?

Documentary Style Photography

The desire for candid, documentary-style photography is skyrocketing among couples who crave authenticity over posed, traditional snapshots. Today's trend leans towards having photographers present throughout the entire day, with many couples opting to hire multiple to cover various moments and perspectives. From pre-wedding moments, including getting ready with loved ones, to the ceremony, and even embarrassing dance floor pics – it all adds to the story.

We have also noticed couples adding disposable cameras (very circa 2001) on reception tables as often those unscripted moments are the memories we return to.

That 70s Vibe

According to Pinterest’s trend predictions for 2024, there is a real resurgence of 70s-inspired weddings. Some of you reading may recoil with horror remembering the orange and brown colour schemes of a bygone era but worry not! The growing trend seems to focus on the earthy tones and party-centric vibe of the 70s – a downright ‘groovy’ decade. We may need to dust off our disco ball!

Inclusive Ceremonies

The ceremony remains the most important part of the day – sure isn’t that what we are all here for?! Once religious formalities, wedding ceremonies are now public displays of love in which couples solidify their commitment to each other and exchange vows to crowds of misty-eyed guests. At Rosebery Venues we’re delighted to cater to all ceremonies both religious and secular, including those in our unconsecrated stunning Rosebery Chapel – indeed, a rare find!

Bows, bows and more bows!

Bows are everywhere right now, and the trend does not look to be dying off anytime soon – so best embrace it! Tie them in your bridesmaid’s braids, change up your outfit for an evening look, carefully intertwine them into your cross-back chairs or bind your hands with your beloved, in true Scottish tartan style!

Intimate Weddings

There is still demand for small weddings or even elopements in 2024. Crafted with a focus on quality over quantity, our 'Wee Wedding Package' is tailor-made for those envisioning a wedding with a close-knit vibe allowing you to create a truly personalised and unforgettable celebration.

We are delighted that this trend remains so popular as it gives us a chance to boast about our two new event spaces ideal for intimate weddings - our lending library and our walled garden - they do say the greatest things come in small packages!

Family Celebrations

We have noticed a lot more children at weddings, and as a family business, we love to see this! There is nothing quite like witnessing a family dynamic come alive and the joy across several generations when loved ones get married. Whether it is couples with children tying the knot or blended families celebrating second weddings, being part of the love is always special for our team.

The Rosebery events team will be delighted to use our many years of experience in planning outstanding weddings to help plan your big day. Simply fill out our contact form and we will be in touch as soon as possible.
