A Castle fit for business.
A fairy-tale workplace
Despite its fairy-tale exterior, Barnbougle Castle was actually designed as a workplace.
The 5th Earl of Rosebery, once Prime Minister to Queen Victoria, practised public speeches in the magnificent Banqueting Hall and used the quiet of the library to research his scholarly books and articles. Barnbougle was the exceptional space needed to further the Earl's work.
Some things never change
Almost 140 years on and the Earl’s sense of purpose and achievement is still very much evident at Barnbougle. This historically important Victorian building is now equipped with modern essentials including WiFi and other facilities.
The Castle is ideal for gala dinners, champagne receptions, meetings, and corporate away-days. Barnbougle caters for up to 200 people.
An ideal venue near Edinburgh
Barnbougle Castle provides the modern world with an opportunity to escape the confines of everyday office life. Just fifteen minutes from Edinburgh International Airport and close to the Forth bridges and with the city centre only 7 miles away - access could not be simpler.

Quite literally breath-taking! You feel the magnitude of the Castle’s historical significance as soon as you step through its doors. Preserved in time and closed off from the world until now....there’s a warmth and spirit to Barnbougle that’s hard to describe… simply magical
